Pastor Wes Jamison

The Rev. Dr. Wes Jamison, OCC, currently serves as interim pastor of St. Michael Lutheran Church in Blacksburg, Virginia. Wes grew up on a small family farm near Draper, Virginia, and never lost his love of the mountains, though he has learned to love other parts of God’s good creation as well.

He earned a B.A. in Religion and Journalism from Milligan University, an M.Div. from Emmanuel Christian Seminary, and a D.Min. from Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary. Wes is an ordained minister of Word and Sacrament in the United Church of Christ, and has served congregations and ministries of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), the United Church of Christ, and the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Virginia, Tennessee, Kentucky, Maryland, and Michigan, as well as working as a field organizer in the area of human rights and as a social worker with families in crisis. He has served the wider church as convenor of the Potomac Association Ministerium, vice-moderator of the Grand West Association, Chair of the Grand West Association Planning Team, delegate to General Synod, and as a board member and vice-president for UCOM (United Church Outreach Ministries).

Wes moved back to Southwestern Virginia in late 2021 to care for family. He is currently serving on the governing board of Nineveh Lutheran Justice Ministry, a new mission development of the Virginia Synod of the ELCA in Radford, Virginia. Wes is a member of the Order of Corpus Christi (a covenantal, contemplative religious order), the Human Rights Campaign, the NAACP, and Sojourners. In his spare time, he enjoys reading, writing, playing card and board games, cooking, hiking, traveling, and spending time with friends and family.
