Here are a few pictures from the wonderful work being done by Micah’s Backpack. Each week approximately 200 bags of food which include a total of nearly 3200 food items go home to hungry students in Blacksburg. Thank you to everyone who helps make this ministry possible.

Dear Sisters and Brothers of St. Michael Lutheran Church!

We have received your most generous commitment and support for the work of the Virginia Synod and the wider Church through the ELCA and the Lutheran World Federation. . . . We thank you so much for your obvious partnership and your making every effort possible to extend the mission and ministry of the Church so that the Name of our Lord Jesus Christ might be known in word and deed.

We pledge to you our prayers for you and your congregation in its mission and ministry, and give thanks to God that you are our letter of recommendation as ambassadors of Christ in your parish setting. We commend your tireless effort to proclaim our Lord’s death and resurrection in Word and Sacrament and service to the people of your community.

You are a leader in our synod, in our journey together. Your giving lifts our spirit and makes a difference for the sake of the world.

May our Lord bless you and abide with you in this coming year. May you know the love of Jesus Christ that surpasses knowledge, this One who is the treasure of God.

Yours in Christ,
The Rev. James F. Mauney, Bishop
Charles E. Poston, Vice-President
George E. Zubrod, Treasurer
