The ELCA Churchwide Assembly took place from August 17 to August 23 and considered a number of issues ranging from Malaria to Full Communion with the United Methodist Church, but the agenda items which received the most attention dealt with issues of human sexuality. Bishop Mauney and Bishop Hanson reflected on the decisions of the Assembly. You can read Bishop Mauney’s thoughts here: Bishop Mauney Response to Churchwide Assembly - Aug 2009 and Bishop Hanson’s thoughts here: Bishop Hanson Pastoral Remarks - Aug 2009 . A brief summary of all Assembly actions can be read here: Brief Summary of Actions - 2009 Churchwide Assembly.
